Gwen

I was called by a clerical worker from a nearby granary, that a little, old, sick dog, a male, she thought,  had been dumped there. It was very cold, with patchy snow on the ground; conditions which kill a dog in that condition.

The video is of me looking for the dog and, after several trips, over several days, I found it. He was a she: thin, mangey, cold and very scared but she was relatively easy to catch; few starving dogs can resist sausages.

She was so timid but very gentle and I named her ‘Gwen’ because it just seemed to be the perfect name for her.

Luckily for Gwen, the amazing Street Hearts had agreed to take her because I was going away for a few weeks.

Waiting at the meet point for Emma from Street Hearts.

En route to Street Hearts.

We thought Gwen would improve enough to survive but would live out the rest of her days in the Street Hearts family, considering her age and general condition. However, Street Hearts being Street Hearts and Gwen being Gwen the actual result was a porky, carefree, playful girl, full of fun and brimming over with confidence – so much so that she ended up being adopted by gorgeous people in the UK and her life was forever changed – here she is last September, adored by her forever family, five years after being thrown away to die in the cold

You go, Gwen ❤️
